ABOUT US
Bob and Elaine Athey opened Gallery Animato in 1992. In the early days, our primary focus was on animation art. In 2001, we began to incorporate movie posters and also became a full time frame shop. Today, we continue to specialize in animation art, but have a larger collection of music and movie related art. We have also expanded through our online business, shipping to countries all around the world.

GALLERY ANIMATO, 1992
Gallery Animato opened its doors in April. 1992 in Birmingham, Michigan.
IN THE NEWS
Shortly after opening, the gallery captured attention from all over. Gallery Animato was featured in newspaper and magazine articles, as well as tv and radio interviews.
ANIMATORS AND EVENTS
Over the years, Gallery Animato has hosted numerous events featuring famous animators such as Chuck Jones, Joe Barbara, Bill Melendez and Iwoa Takamoto. Pictured is Bill Justice; Disney animator, director, Imagineer, creator of Chip and Dale.
RELOCATING
In 2015, Bob and Elaine moved the gallery to Grosse Pointe Park. Here they are cutting the ribbon at the grand opening on September 29th, 2015.
